The company developed Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) formulations and manufacturing processes that produced soft-sided vessels with the taste neutrality and durability of hard plastic, the packability of collapsible designs, and a reversibility that allowed complete interior cleaning that sealed reservoir designs made impossible. The Oakland location connected Hydrapak to the Bay Area outdoor community and the engineering talent that has historically concentrated there.
