Verification in Progress

Vitamix has no products listed right now. The evidence on file doesn't reach the 70% American Score, often because a brand makes some lines in the US and imports others. Each product is scored on its own, so a US-made line can still be listed later.

Our Research Notes

All blenders manufactured in Olmsted Township, OH since 1921. Entire product line USA-made, fourth-generation family ownership. claim-partial (moderate): Vitamix's own About Us 'Sourcing and Manufacturing' section makes no Made in USA claim and says 'we create relationships around the world with sourcing and production partners who help us strike the perfect balance of quality and value' (https://www.vitamix.com/us/en_us/corporate-information/about-us). Company history confirms the 175,000 sq ft Strongsville, Ohio operations center. Countertop blenders are assembled in Strongsville OH with globally sourced components; no live Amazon listing checked (5200, E310, A2500, immersion) carries an origin field. Our descriptions 'Made in Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Township/Cleveland' overstate it: assembly is Strongsville, and 'Made in the USA' on the E310/immersion blender is unsourced. websiteMadeInUsaClaim is already false. https://www.news5cleveland.com/news/buckeye-built/buckeye-built-blender-giant-vitamix-has-been-spinning-strong-for-nearly-100-years "This is where Vitamix products are assembled, packaged and shipped from. About 300 people work inside the Strongsville plant."

Vitamix makes high-powered blenders. Its headquarters is in Olmsted Township, Ohio, and its machines are assembled, packaged and shipped from a plant in nearby Strongsville.

From door-to-door sales to a 1949 TV pitch

William Grover Barnard, known in the company as Papa Barnard, started the business in 1921 as Barnard Sales Co., selling household products by demonstration. In 1948 his son Bill built a small office in Olmsted Township, Ohio, southwest of Cleveland, and the headquarters is still there.

In 1949 Bill talked his father into buying a half-hour slot on WEWS in Cleveland to demonstrate the blender live. Vitamix says it needed to sell 18 machines that night to break even and sold more than 400. The family ran the company for four generations, through Jodi Berg as CEO from 2010. Since June 2022 the CEO has been Steve Laserson, the first from outside the family.

Assembled in Strongsville, with parts from abroad

In 2013 Vitamix opened a 175,000-square-foot operations center in Strongsville, Ohio. News 5 Cleveland reports that this is where Vitamix products are assembled, packaged and shipped, with about 300 people working inside.

Vitamix itself does not claim its blenders are made in the USA. Its About Us page describes relationships with sourcing and production partners around the world, so expect Ohio assembly with globally sourced components rather than an all-American parts list. The store listings we read for the 5200, E310, Ascent series and immersion blender carry no origin line, and Vitamix does not say where the immersion blender is made. If origin matters to you, check the box or the product page for the specific model.
