About Apple Barrel
Apple Barrel acrylic craft paints are manufactured at Plaid Enterprises' Norcross, Georgia facility, offering an affordable and wide-ranging color palette that has made them a staple of American craft rooms and classrooms since the 1980s.
Heritage & History
Apple Barrel is Plaid Enterprises' accessible craft paint line — designed from the start to bring quality acrylic painting to hobbyists, teachers, kids, and casual crafters who needed an honest, affordable paint without compromising on coverage or consistency. Where FolkArt targets decorative painters and stroke work artists, Apple Barrel serves the broader crafting population who need reliable paint for a diy project, classroom activity, or kids' craft without a specialized formula.
The Apple Barrel name and approachable pricing made it a natural fit for school and community craft programs, and its availability at mass market retailers and online brought American-made craft paint into millions of homes and classrooms. Despite its accessibility, Apple Barrel uses the same Georgia manufacturing facility as Plaid's premium lines.
Made in Norcross, Georgia
Apple Barrel paints are manufactured at Plaid Enterprises' facility in Norcross, Georgia — the same plant that produces FolkArt and other Plaid brand paints. Every bottle is explicitly labeled Made in USA, and the manufacturing process reflects Plaid's 35+ year commitment to domestic paint production. The acrylic formula provides good coverage for basecoating, stenciling, and general craft applications, with a smooth matte finish that dries in 30 minutes.
Apple Barrel offers over 100 colors in 2-ounce and 8-ounce bottles, making it practical for projects that require a variety of colors without the expense of buying large quantities of each. Multi-packs and sets are available for educators and heavy crafters. All products are sold online and at major retailers. For crafters who want genuinely made-in-America paint at accessible prices, Apple Barrel has been the Georgia-made choice for decades.
