Absolutely Natural was founded in 1992 by Charley Richards, who had worked in the suncare business since 1978, beginning at Hawaiian resorts including the Sheraton Maui and selling Hawaiian Tropic as a high-school salesman. He started the company to bring reef-safe sunscreens, lotions and aloes to resort hotel pool decks and beaches.
For more than 30 years the company has supplied resort hotels and spas, and over the last decade it has become a manufacturer and private-label partner for national and international brands. In 2018 Richards launched Zoey Naturals, a baby-care line, and in 2023 he passed leadership to his son Danny, who had worked in every department of the business for more than 21 years.
