Heritage & History
Anchor Wizard began with a cold morning on Crystal Lake in Michigan. Inventor Bruce VanScoyoc was fishing deep water with his two young sons, hauling a wet anchor rope hand over hand, when he decided there had to be a better way. Watching a hose reel at work gave him the idea of a reel built for retrieving an anchor, and after several attempts the Anchor Wizard became a product.
The company describes its goal as a system that works in shallow or deep water, that anglers of any age can use, and that holds a boat steady against wind on lakes and current on rivers. Today it sells units for jon boats, V-hulls, pontoons, drift boats, canoes and kayaks, along with mounting kits, rebuild kits and anchors, under the slogan "Stop Yanking and Start Cranking."
Made in Evart, Michigan
Anchor Wizard is family owned and operated in Evart, Michigan, where its anchoring systems are built. The company states that each product is precision crafted and 100% American made, and it sells the units alongside matching mounts and repair parts for different boat styles.
VanScoyoc's son works alongside him in the business, and the company says it stands behind every product it makes. Customers are invited to call or email directly for help choosing a unit or mounting it to a particular boat.
