One paint factory on Cotton Avenue

DecoArt was created in 1985 and is based at 49 Cotton Avenue in Stanford, Kentucky. Its FAQ says the 115,000 square foot Stanford building "serves as our paint manufacturing headquarters" and that its paints and mediums are "formulated, tested, made, bottled, and labeled in our factory in the U.S.A."

The company has added two other Central Kentucky sites: a Creative Center in Lexington, opened in 2015, and an 88,000 square foot distribution building in Danville, opened in 2016. Orders for its more than 3,500 products ship from Danville.

Which DecoArt products are made in Stanford

The Stanford plant covers the paint lines: Americana acrylics, Americana Decor Chalky Finish, Americana Multi-Surface, Dazzling Metallics, SoSoft fabric paint, Patio Paint, Crafter's Acrylic and Glamour Dust. The 2 ounce Americana bottles and the 8 ounce Chalky Finish jars are both in that group.

DecoEARTH, launched in 2024, is acrylic paint made from reclaimed paint. Lane Report coverage says the processed paint is sent to the Stanford plant, and DecoArt describes the line as "made in the U.S. with reclaimed paint and globally sourced materials."

Imported materials and brushes

DecoArt says it sources components from around the world, so pigments or other raw materials in a US-made bottle may be imported. It also sells brushes and tools, and the brush pages give no country of origin. Treat the made-in-USA claim as covering the paint, and look for an origin line before assuming a brush or tool is US-made.
