Kate Day and Kyle Ranson founded Dovetail Workwear in Milwaukee in 2017 after Day spent years working in construction and discovering that women in the trades had essentially no options for work pants that fit properly. Men's work pants in women's sizes don't account for different hip-to-waist ratios, thigh dimensions, or the physical demands of jobs where you're on your knees, climbing ladders, and moving constantly.
Dovetail's founding insight was simple but underserved: women in the trades deserve workwear designed for their bodies and their work, not modified versions of men's patterns. The brand launched with the Freshley work pant — designed with input from actual tradeswomen — and expanded from there into a full line of workwear built on the same foundational principle.
