Pharmacist Peter Greene and his brother John bought a mineral spring in the Ouachita Mountains outside Hot Springs, Arkansas in 1871. The water was sold in glass bottles and shipped by rail, and Mountain Valley became one of the best-known American spring waters of the 20th century. The company still calls Hot Springs home and still bottles in glass.
