Over the next two seasons he and Hailee expanded the operation, eventually installing vacuum tubing and tapping 200 trees before deciding to pursue maple syrup production commercially.
In 2015, Jake and Hailee purchased a 100-acre property in Hartstown, Pennsylvania, and began their first commercial season in January 2016 with roughly 7,500 taps. The operation expanded further with the purchase of three additional properties in 2017, growing to 22,000 taps at its peak before the family chose to downsize and refocus on value-added products, retaining their original 100 acres in Hartstown.
