Wool blankets woven in Minnesota and the Pacific Northwest
Faribault Mill was founded in 1865 on the Cannon River in Faribault, Minnesota, and its current mill building dates to 1892. It calls itself one of the last fully integrated vertical mills in the country, meaning the steps from fleece to finished blanket happen under one roof. The mill shut down in 2009 and was reopened in 2011 by new owners. Its wool blankets and throws are loomed in Faribault: the Minnehaha Falls, Lake Geneva and Gull Lake throws, the satin-bound Pure & Simple blanket and the natural Frontier blanket. Its FAQ says the process starts with a mix of imported and domestic fleeces, so some of the fiber is imported before it is spun and woven in Minnesota. In 2022 Faribault brought in Brahms Mount, a cotton weaving mill in Maine, and its cotton blankets come from the two mills.
Pendleton traces its trade to Thomas Kay, who brought woolen milling from Yorkshire to Oregon in 1863. The Bishop family took over the Pendleton, Oregon mill in 1909 and still runs the company. It says more than 300 workers spin yarn and weave fabric at its mills in Pendleton and Washougal, Washington. Blankets and throws are the mill product: the Yakima Camp throw and twin blanket, the machine-washable Eco-Wise king blanket, and jacquard throws such as Spider Rock and the fringed Chimayo, which belong to the same mill-woven line. Much of Pendleton's apparel is assembled abroad or fully imported, so buy the blankets and read the origin line on anything else.
Pillows sewn in South Carolina and Los Angeles
Queen Anne Pillow's site footer reads "All of our pillows made in South Carolina," and the company says every pillow is made at its own facility there, though it gives no city. Founder T.S. Luther says the business began with years of surgery and back pain and no pillow that gave enough support. The Original Queen Anne down pillow is hand-filled with European white goose down and finished one at a time. The down-alternative Majesty and Hotel Collection pillows, in soft, medium and adjustable versions, are made to order in the USA. Materials come from partners in the US, Canada and Europe. Queen Anne's pillow protectors and dust mite covers are made in China, and its sheet and throw blanket pages give no origin, so the pillows are the US-made part of the range.
Brentwood Home has made mattresses and pillows in Los Angeles since 1987. Its Crystal Cove memory foam pillow listing says it is handcrafted in California, and its 11-inch bamboo gel mattress listing says all Brentwood Home mattresses are made in the USA. The homepage says most, not all, of its products come from the Los Angeles factory, using materials from domestic and international sources.
For the sofa and the patio, RSH Decor sews Sunbrella throw and lumbar pillows at its factory in Easley, South Carolina, from fabric it buys in. Luna Lullaby, a woman-owned company, says its V-shaped nursing pillow and its travel pillow are made in the USA, without naming a state.
Baby blankets and wearable blankets
SwaddleDesigns was started in Seattle in 2002 by Lynette Damir, a registered nurse who saw tired parents of newborns and found no swaddling blankets for sale. She designed the Ultimate Swaddle, a large square of cotton flannel with swaddling instructions sewn to the edge. The company says it makes that blanket in Seattle from made in USA cotton flannel, and the product pages read "Made in USA from USA cotton." Both receiving blankets we list are Ultimate Swaddle flannel blankets. Much of the rest of the store is labeled imported, including muslin swaddles, marquisette blankets, the Transitional Swaddle Sack and pajama gowns.
CastleWare has made organic cotton sleeper bags, wearable blankets and pajamas since 2008, and says its whole line is made in the USA from fiber to finish. Its rib knit, fleece and velour fabrics are made in the Carolinas and Southern California. The organic cotton is grown mostly in West Texas, but CastleWare says it also buys from India when weather, availability or demand require it.
Cherub's Blanket, based in Cleveland, Ohio, has sold unbleached, undyed organic cotton baby blankets since 1996. Its clearest origin statement is on its gift sets, whose enclosure tag says everything is handcrafted in the USA. The individual blanket pages on its own site carry no origin line, though both listings we carry, a premium baby blanket and a 3-pack of swaddles, state US origin.
Crib mattresses and crib bedding
Naturepedic was founded in 2003 by Barry Cik, an environmental engineer who could not find a crib mattress for his first grandchild made without the chemicals and flame retardants he wanted to avoid. Its office, factory and Cleveland store share one address in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. It says all of its mattresses are handcrafted there, with encased coils it makes in-house from recycled steel. Its crib mattress pages read "Made in the USA with domestic and global materials." Some Naturepedic bedding and bath textiles are made abroad, including bathrobes and towels made in India.
Newton Baby makes the Wovenaire core of its crib mattresses, a woven food-grade polymer it says is 90% air by volume, at its facility outside Nashville, Tennessee, and does final assembly there. The spacer fabric that wraps the core is made in China, and Newton's sheets and swaddles are made in Pakistan.
Moonlight Slumber started out making medical mattresses and says its mattresses are made in Illinois; the two we list are Little Dreamer crib mattresses. Some of its models are made of domestic and sourced materials. Lullaby Earth says its crib mattresses are crafted in the USA from domestic and global materials, but does not name a town or plant.
For crib sheets, skirts and sets, Glenna Jean's brand-written listings say its bedding is handcrafted in the United States and ships from Petersburg, Virginia. Its own website did not load when we checked in October 2026, and some listings now carry different pattern names, so check the pattern and photo before ordering.
How to choose fiber, fill and firmness
Start with fiber. Wool stays warm when damp and holds odor less than cotton, which makes it the choice for cold bedrooms, cabins and camp. Most wool blankets want cold-water hand washing or dry cleaning; Pendleton's Eco-Wise blanket is sold as machine washable. Cotton and cotton flannel are lighter, softer against bare skin and easy to launder, which suits warm sleepers and babies. A wool and cotton blend, like Pendleton's Yakima Camp, sits between the two.
For pillows, match the support to how you sleep. Side sleepers usually need a firmer, higher pillow to fill the gap between shoulder and ear. Back sleepers tend to do best with medium support, and stomach sleepers with a soft, low pillow. Down is light and easy to shape but can bother allergy sufferers, which is what down-alternative fills are for. Memory foam holds its shape through the night. Adjustable pillows let you take fill out until the height is right.
For a crib, the safe-sleep rule is a firm, flat mattress that fits the crib with no gaps, covered by a fitted sheet and nothing else. Keep pillows, quilts and loose blankets out of an infant's crib; a wearable blanket or sleeper bag keeps a baby warm instead. Dual-firmness mattresses have a firm infant side and a softer toddler side.
Last, read the origin line. Several brands here make their core product in the US and import the rest, and the label on the specific item is the only reliable way to tell.
