About Coastal Pet Products
Coastal Pet Products has manufactured pet collars, leashes, and accessories in Alliance, Ohio since 1968, making it one of the oldest American pet supply manufacturers and the domestic standard for nylon pet products.
Heritage & History
Coastal Pet Products was established in Alliance, Ohio in 1968, producing nylon dog collars and leashes at a time when the pet supply industry was still dominated by leather and chain products. The introduction of nylon webbing to pet accessories was a practical advancement — nylon resists moisture and rot better than leather, can be woven in a wider range of colors and patterns, and is more economical to produce at scale.
Alliance, Ohio has been Coastal Pet's manufacturing base for over 50 years, making it one of the few American pet supply companies that has maintained domestic production through the decades of offshore migration that eliminated most American pet product manufacturing. The Ohio workforce has developed specialized knowledge in nylon webbing products and hardware assembly that supports the quality standards Coastal Pet maintains.
Made in Alliance, Ohio
Coastal Pet manufactures collars and leashes at the Alliance facility by cutting nylon webbing to length, sewing the buckle and D-ring attachments, and applying finishing details. The webbing is sourced domestically and stitched using industrial sewing equipment designed for the specific tension and stitch pattern requirements of load-bearing pet accessories — products that must hold against the sudden force of a dog hitting the end of a leash.
The hardware — plastic buckles, D-rings, and snap hooks — is specified for both corrosion resistance and release force. Quick-release buckles are tested for the force required to open, which must be accessible to a human under stress but not openable by a dog mouthing the collar. These are functional specifications that determine whether the product works as intended in emergency situations.
