De La Cruz is the original brand of DLC Laboratories, founded in Los Angeles in 1963 by pharmacist Paul Cruz. The family-owned company makes skin and hair care oils, topical products, over-the-counter remedies and supplements at its facility in Paramount, California.
Heritage & History
Paul Cruz, a Mexican pharmacist, founded De La Cruz Products in Los Angeles in 1963 in a 1,200-square-foot building, where he made his own vitamins, massage oils and herbal topical products. He sold them almost entirely to pharmacies and markets serving the Latino population of Southern and Central California and Arizona, and advertised on local Spanish-language radio. Super Macho followed in 1966 and Globulo Rojo in 1969.
In the 1970s Cruz retired and sold the business to Spero Kessaris, a pharmacist who had been one of his early customers. Under Kessaris the company added Desempacho, Bactimicina lozenges and Ocusan eye drops. Now known as DLC Laboratories and still family-owned, the company sells more than 120 health and beauty products through national chains, independent stores and online.

In the late 1970s De La Cruz moved to a larger facility in Paramount, California, hired R&D, sales and production staff, and added equipment over time to make its lines more efficient. The company says it manufactures in an FDA-regulated facility licensed by the California Department of Public Health and formulates most of its products in-house.
According to DLC, nearly all of its products are made or packed in that California facility, using ingredients and packaging sourced both in the US and abroad. Every batch is tested for quality, and online orders ship straight from the same production and warehouse site.
