About Fairytale Brownies
Fairytale Brownies has baked premium Belgian chocolate brownies in Phoenix, Arizona since 1992, hand-packaging each order in the company's iconic gift boxes.
Heritage & History
Fairytale Brownies was founded in Phoenix, Arizona in 1992 by childhood friends Eileen Spitalny and David Kravetz, who used a Belgian chocolate brownie recipe that had been in Eileen's family since she was a child. The company launched as a mail-order gift business before online commerce existed, relying on catalog orders and word-of-mouth to build a national customer base around the quality of the brownies themselves.
The Belgian chocolate recipe remains unchanged from the original — a dense, fudgy formula with a higher cocoa content than most commercial brownies. The two founders have run the company together since founding, and the Phoenix bakery has grown from a small operation to one that ships millions of brownie gifts annually while maintaining the handmade quality and fresh-baked approach that defined the original business.
Baked in Phoenix, Arizona
Every Fairytale Brownies product is baked fresh at the Phoenix, Arizona bakery and shipped directly to recipients. The company does not produce brownies for warehouse storage — each order is baked to order and packaged by hand before shipping, which is how the company maintains the fresh-baked quality that distinguishes its products from shelf-stable packaged brownies.
The brownie lineup has expanded from the original recipe to include 12 signature flavors: original chocolate, cream cheese, caramel, pecan, raspberry, walnut, espresso nib, cinnamon, mint chocolate chip, toffee crunch, dark chocolate, and lemon. Each variation uses the Belgian chocolate base formula with a different mix-in or glaze, maintaining the fudgy texture that the company's reputation is built on.
