About Fromm Family Foods
Fromm Family Foods is a 5th-generation Wisconsin family company that has been making premium pet food in small batches at its Wisconsin facilities since 1904.
Five Generations in Wisconsin
Fromm Family Foods traces its origins to 1904, when the Fromm family began raising mink on their Wisconsin farm — a business that evolved over generations into animal nutrition expertise. The fifth generation of the Fromm family now operates the company's three Wisconsin manufacturing facilities: dry food and treat plants in Mequon and Columbus, and a wet food cannery in Eden.
Every bag and can of Fromm dog and cat food originates from one of these Wisconsin facilities. The company does not contract manufacture — all production is done by Fromm employees at Fromm-owned facilities using Fromm-developed recipes. This vertical integration is rare in the premium pet food market and is the foundation of the quality consistency that has made Fromm a trusted brand among independent pet store retailers.
Small-Batch, Fresh-Ingredient Manufacturing
Fromm produces pet food in small batches rather than the large continuous-production runs typical of major pet food brands. The small-batch approach allows the company to use fresh ingredients — including real meat, farm-fresh produce, and Wisconsin cheese — that would spoil during the extended production cycles of large-batch manufacturing.
The Four-Star Nutritionals line is designed for rotational feeding: each recipe uses a different primary protein (beef, chicken, salmon, game bird, rabbit) and is formulated to be nutritionally complete when fed on a rotating basis. Rotational feeding exposes pets to a variety of proteins and nutrient sources, which some veterinary nutritionists recommend as beneficial for long-term digestive health and reduced food sensitivity.
