Heritage & History
Hutzler Manufacturing was founded in 1938 in Canaan, Connecticut, beginning as a plastics manufacturer in the early commercial plastics era. The company developed kitchen tools and gadgets that solved specific food preparation and storage problems — produce keepers that extended the freshness of delicate herbs, avocado savers that prevented browning, and specialty containers that organized the refrigerator more effectively than generic alternatives.
Canaan is a small town in northwestern Connecticut's Litchfield County. Hutzler has operated in Connecticut for over eight decades, maintaining American manufacturing through the same competitive pressures that drove most kitchen gadget production to Asia.
Made in Canaan, Connecticut
Hutzler Manufacturing produces kitchen tools and gadgets at the Canaan, Connecticut facility. The injection molding process requires precise tooling and material selection — Hutzler's BPA-free plastics are chosen for food contact safety, dishwasher durability, and the flexibility characteristics that allow produce keeper lids to seal without cracking over repeated use. The facility handles tooling maintenance, molding, and finishing in-house.
For cooks who want functional, American-made kitchen tools that actually work — the herb keeper that keeps cilantro fresh for two weeks, the avocado saver that genuinely prevents browning — Hutzler's Connecticut manufacturing delivers products backed by over eight decades of kitchenware expertise.
