Is Jack Link's Made in USA?

Verdict · checked Oct 23, 2026

Mostly yes

Jack Link's own FAQ says the majority of what it sells in the US and Canada is packaged at four of its own upper-Midwest plants — Alpena, South Dakota; Mankato, Minnesota; Minong, Wisconsin (also company HQ); and New Glarus, Wisconsin. The company has been family-owned since the mid-1980s and is still headquartered in Minong.

The same FAQ discloses that Jack Link's also sells products made at its own facilities in New Zealand, without saying which market those are sold into — so we can't confirm or rule out whether any specific US-sold bag of jerky came from there. We also checked a live Jack Link's jerky listing on Amazon and found no country-of-origin statement on the product page itself, so for now the plant disclosure is the only origin evidence available for any single product.

How we checked: On 2026-10-23 we read Jack Link's FAQ page and its "Our Story" page, and checked a live Jack Link's beef jerky listing on Amazon for a country-of-origin statement (none was present).

About Jack Link's

Jack Link's makes beef jerky and meat snacks, most of it for the US and Canada packaged at four company plants in South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. It also runs plants in New Zealand.

A butcher family from Minong, Wisconsin

The Link family's story starts in the 1880s, when Chris Link came to America with the family's sausage recipes. His son Earl opened Minong's first general store and butcher shop, and Earl's son Wolf raised cattle. Wolf's son Jack Link began selling his namesake beef steaks to Wisconsin convenience stores in 1985 and opened the company's first processing plant in Minong in 1986. The company is still family-owned and run, with Jack and his son Troy leading it, and its headquarters remain in Minong.

Four Midwest plants, plus New Zealand

Jack Link's FAQ says the majority of the products it sells in the United States and Canada are packaged at its own plants in Alpena, South Dakota; Mankato, Minnesota; Minong, Wisconsin; and New Glarus, Wisconsin. A meat-industry trade profile describes Alpena as the main plant for high-speed jerky production, with some processing still done in Minong.

The same FAQ says Jack Link's also sells products made and packaged at its own facilities in New Zealand. It does not say which markets those products go to, so we cannot rule out that a given US bag came from there. The Amazon listing we checked carried no country-of-origin line, so check the package itself if origin matters to you.
