Jackster began in the summer of 1981, after Jack Kramer's junior year of college, when he started selling wholesale belts out of the trunk of his car and his garage. He spent that summer on the road with his father, an experienced clothing salesman, who kept the business going when Jack returned to school.
After graduation the two ran Jackster full-time, traveling by day and packing orders at night. In 1985 they bought their first building and opened a factory in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The company remains family-owned and describes itself as one of the leading US manufacturers of web belts, suspenders and shirt garters.
