About Johnny Slicks
Johnny Slicks is a veteran-owned men's grooming company founded in 2018 by former Marines John Raushi and Nick Koumalatsos and based in Holly Ridge, North Carolina. It makes pomades, beard oils, shampoos, conditioners and body washes in its own lab.
Heritage & History
Johnny Slicks began with John Raushi, a former Marine Corps armorer who moved to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, after marrying his wife Rebecca in 2013. He noticed his hair was thinning in 2016 and started reading the ingredient lists on his products. He then worked on his own formulas at home and finished the Organic Oil Based Pomade in June 2017. In early 2018 he met fellow former Marine Nick Koumalatsos, who called within six days to propose a partnership, and the two families went into business together that March.
The company says it reached seven-figure sales on April 24, 2020. It now sells a line of organic hair, beard and body products for men, and it calls itself veteran-owned and 'American-made since 2018.' Forbes named it among the best grooming items for men in 2021, according to the brand.
Made in North Carolina
Johnny Slicks makes its products in-house at its own lab in coastal North Carolina. The Our Story page names a head of manufacturing, lab specialists and lab assistants who mix products such as the Beast Wash body wash. Orders are packed by the company's team in North Carolina and ship from its Holly Ridge address on US Highway 17.
The company says it makes new products daily and sources its ingredients and containers only from American-made companies. Many of its staff are military veterans and coastal North Carolina locals, and the brand presents American sourcing as a way to support American workers.
