Heritage & History
New Mexico Piñon Coffee began in 1994 selling its coffee from the back of a pickup truck. It built its line around flavors drawn from New Mexico, led by Traditional Piñon, and it was once sold in Trader Joe's. The company says it is now one of the largest roasters in New Mexico.
Today its coffee is sold in almost every grocery store in New Mexico, at World Market stores nationwide, at Costco in Colorado, and through its own Albuquerque coffee houses. The company is led by president Matt Bregar and has a production team under a director of production. It describes five core values (ownership, passion, improvement, creativity and integrity) and the mission of 'Enriching Lives Through Love of Coffee.'
Made in New Mexico
The company roasts 100% Arabica coffee in New Mexico. Its green coffee is a Brazilian natural-process coffee, chosen because the chocolate and nut notes suit its all-natural, allergen-free flavorings. Decaf Traditional Piñon is decaffeinated with the Mountain Water Process before roasting.
New Mexico Piñon Coffee says it follows strict standards from bean selection through production. It sells whole-bean, ground and single-serve coffees and runs several coffee houses in Albuquerque alongside its roastery shop.
