In 1926 brothers Ralph and Paul Adams opened a small scrapple plant in Bridgeville, a Sussex County town in southern Delaware, and named it RAPA by joining their first names. Scrapple, a pan-fried loaf of pork, cornmeal and spices, was already a Mid-Atlantic breakfast staple, and the Adams recipe made RAPA one of the region's best-known producers. The company stayed with the family for decades before Jones Dairy Farm, the family-owned Wisconsin sausage maker, bought it in 1981. Production stayed in Bridgeville. In February 2026 Delaware's governor proclaimed a RAPA Scrapple Centennial Month to mark the brand's hundredth year.
