About Riceland

Riceland Foods is a farmer-owned rice cooperative formed in Arkansas in 1921 and based in Stuttgart, Arkansas. It mills and markets white, brown and parboiled rice grown by its farmer-members in Arkansas and Missouri.

Heritage & History

Riceland began in 1921 when farmers formed the Arkansas Rice Growers Association on the idea that they were stronger together. The cooperative bought a rice mill in Stuttgart, Arkansas in 1928 and another in Jonesboro, Arkansas in 1939. In 1946 it launched Riceland Rice as its consumer brand. In 1970 it took the name Riceland Foods, Inc. and opened a new headquarters office in Stuttgart.

Riceland was named Arkansas Food Company of the Year in 1985, and in 1989 it milled a record one million metric tons of rice. It marked 100 years in 2021. The cooperative now serves 5,500 farmer-members, sells in the United States and about 25 other countries, and is also one of the Mid-South's major soybean processors.

Made in Arkansas

Riceland stores, transports, processes and markets more than 2.5 million metric tons of grain a year from its farmer-members. Its rice products include white, brown and parboiled rice and rice bran oil, and all rice produced at its facilities is kosher approved. The company says its rice comes from farmer-members in Arkansas and Missouri and is Non-GMO Project certified.

As a cooperative owned by thousands of farm families, Riceland describes its mission as helping farmers feed the world sustainably. Its Ingrain Good sustainability initiative (2020) and Carbon Ready program (2022) help members adopt sustainable practices and use the data their farms generate.
