Heritage & History
Larry Crumrine, an engineer and avid fisherman, designed a bullet-shaped lead sinker that could be fished more easily through heavy cover, launching Bullet Weights, Inc. in 1970 with its first manufacturing facility in Grand Island, Nebraska. His son Doug joined the company in 1972, and the growing business moved its manufacturing to Alda, Nebraska, in 1973.
Doug became president in 1985 and bought the company from his father in 1998. Bullet Weights expanded into Ultra Steel and Ultra Tin sinker lines in 1995 as lead alternatives, and added a second manufacturing and distribution facility in Loup City, Nebraska, in 1999. Doug's son Joe became the third-generation president in 2004.
