Crestron was founded in 1971 in Rockleigh, New Jersey by George Feldstein, who developed the world's first wireless remote control for drapes and later pioneered programmable control systems for audiovisual equipment. The company's founding insight was that complex AV systems needed centralized, programmable control to be usable by non-technical people.

Crestron grew as AV systems in corporate and institutional environments became increasingly complex. Today Crestron is the world's largest manufacturer of advanced control and automation systems, with products installed in millions of spaces worldwide. The Rockleigh, New Jersey headquarters has been the center of Crestron engineering and manufacturing throughout its history.

Made in Rockleigh, New Jersey

All Crestron control processors, touchpanels, and AV distribution equipment are manufactured at the Rockleigh, New Jersey facility. The company has never moved production overseas and explicitly markets products as designed and manufactured in the USA.

Crestron's New Jersey manufacturing encompasses PCB assembly, final assembly, software development, and quality testing. The company ensures components meet military-grade reliability standards for commercial applications and maintains engineering staff to support custom programming for complex installations.
