Fiesta was founded in 1871 and makes the products listed here in Newell, WV. The site lists 25 verified American-made Fiesta products.

One pottery on the Ohio River

The company's address is 672 Fiesta Drive in Newell, West Virginia, across the Ohio River from East Liverpool, Ohio. It says it has made dinnerware there for generations and that "not another dinnerware company, at least of our scale, makes their own products" in the US.

Fiesta's factory store puts an origin line on each product page. Dinner plates, bistro bowls, pasta bowls, Java mugs, platters and the gravy boat read "Fully vitrified lead-safe china with a color glaze Made in the USA." The Edgeline glassware sold alongside the dishes also reads made in the USA, though the plant is not named. We did not find a Fiesta piece marked as imported.

From East Liverpool to Newell

Brothers Homer and Shakespeare Laughlin opened their pottery in East Liverpool in 1871, and their white granite ware won an award at the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia. Homer sold the business in 1897 to William Edwin Wells, a bookkeeper he had hired, and the Wells family has led it ever since, now in its fifth generation.

Needing room, the company bought land across the river, built the town of Newell, and by 1906 had finished Plant 4, then the largest pottery plant in the world. Design director Frederick Hurten Rhead introduced Fiesta in 1936. Production peaked in 1948, when more than 3,000 workers made about 120 million pieces.

In 2020 the company dropped its restaurant china business, kept the home dinnerware, and took the name The Fiesta Tableware Company.
