In 1962, symphony musician Raymond Benner and his wife Cecilia purchased a small earplug business, McKeon Products, Inc., for $2,000. Benner improved the original moldable clay earplugs into a waterproof moldable silicone formula — the world's first — renaming them Mack's Pillow Soft Earplugs for their pillow-like appearance.
The company grew from the Benners' home basement through eight expanding facilities and is now the leader of the retail ear-care industry with its original and top-selling moldable silicone earplugs. It remains family owned and operated, with Raymond's sons Devin (CEO) and Pete Benner continuing their father's hands-on approach to product research and development.
