Prohoe Manufacturing began in 1990 when founder Loren Kisby built a prototype garden hoe for his family for Christmas — hand-forged from recycled agricultural disc blades in his shop in Munden, Kansas. The hoes worked so well that neighbors wanted them, neighbors told friends, and what started as a holiday gift became a business operating out of a converted chicken house on the family farm.
In 1993, Kisby purchased Munden's old grade school building and turned it into the Prohoe workshop, where it has operated ever since. The tiny rural town of Munden — population under 100 — hosts what has become one of the most respected garden tool brands among serious gardeners nationwide. Every tool is made by hand by the same small team, and that has never changed since 1990.

Every Rogue Hoe is handcrafted at the Prohoe workshop in Munden, Kansas. The tool heads are individually cut and formed from recycled agricultural disc blades — high-carbon steel that was engineered for the sustained impact of farm implements, which means it far outperforms the sheet steel used in mass-produced garden hoes. The 7-inch Rogue Hoe 70G is the flagship model, with three sharpened edges that cut weeds on both the push and pull stroke.
The 5.75-inch 575G provides a narrower head for tight spaces between plants. The fiberglass-handle models use long-handled designs — 54 to 60 inches — that allow standing use without bending.
