Annin has made flags since 1847 and calls itself the oldest and largest flag maker in the United States. It is a sixth-generation family company. Louis Annin Ames ran it from 1896 to 1952, followed by Randy Beard, Lee Beard and Jack Dennis, and Carter Beard leads it today.
The company says its flags were at Lincoln's inauguration and funeral, the 1883 opening of the Brooklyn Bridge, Iwo Jima in 1945 and Apollo 11 in 1969.
