Charles Beckman's company, now in its fourth family generation
Charles Beckman founded the Red Wing Shoe Company in Red Wing, Minnesota, in 1905. The Heritage line came much later, in 2007, as a lifestyle label based on the work boots the company made through the twentieth century. In 2023 Allison Sweasy Gettings became CEO, the company's first woman in the job and the fourth generation of the Sweasy family to lead it.
The S.B. Foot Tanning Company became part of Red Wing in 1986. Red Wing says all its leather comes from that tannery in Red Wing, and its plants there turn out hundreds of thousands of pairs of safety and Heritage footwear a year.
