Heritage & History
STEELPORT was founded in 2021 when co-founders Ron Khormaei, an engineering PhD and executive who had earlier launched FINEX Cast Iron cookware in 2012, and Eytan Zias, a trained bladesmith, released the brand's first product, an 8-inch chef knife. The knife drew attention from customers, chefs, and media, and the company expanded to a full set of handcrafted carbon steel kitchen knives.
The company is known for its SharpForever program, offering free lifetime knife sharpening alongside a lifetime warranty, and positions itself as reintroducing heirloom American forged carbon steel cutlery using traditional forging methods and American-made materials.
Made in Portland, Oregon
The company states, "We manufacture and sharpen each knife by hand in Portland, Oregon," from its facility at 3602 NE Sandy Blvd in Portland.
STEELPORT describes itself as "the only cutlery brand to offer broadly accessible premium carbon steel knives forged and handcrafted in the US, using all American-made materials," combining traditional forging techniques with modern manufacturing.
