American-Made Finds
One maker's story, the brands newly listed here, and a few US-made picks, every Thursday.
Summit Brands was founded in 1958 and makes the products listed here in Fort Wayne, IN. The site lists 4 verified American-made Summit Brands products.
A Fort Wayne cleaning company since 1958
Summit Brands describes itself as "a family-owned business started in 1958." It is headquartered on Pointe Inverness Way in Fort Wayne and says its environmental management system is ISO 14001 registered "at all of its Fort Wayne, Indiana locations."
The company owns nine brands: Iron OUT, Plink, Glisten, Pumie, Dryel, Zout, OUT, EarthStone and Septobac.
Which lines say made in USA
Iron OUT is the clearest case. Summit calls the line "heavy-duty Rust Removers, all made in the USA." More broadly, the company says it strives to make all of its household cleaning products in the United States. Product listings for Plink disposal and washer cleaners and Iron OUT spray gel say made in the USA, and the Glisten dishwasher cleaner listing says produced in America.
A stated aim is a goal, not a guarantee, and Summit's product pages do not name the plant behind each item. For brands it owns outside Iron OUT, Plink and Glisten, such as Dryel and Zout, read the package.
