About Flambeau Outdoors
Flambeau Outdoors has manufactured fishing tackle boxes, hunting decoys, and outdoor storage products in the United States since 1947, building a reputation among American anglers and hunters for durable, domestic production.
Heritage & History
Two brothers, William and Edwin Sauey, built the company that became Flambeau in northern Wisconsin in 1947, starting with a single injection molding machine in a small facility. The name came from the Flambeau River in Wisconsin's Northwoods, and the early product line focused on the outdoor sporting goods market that the Wisconsin location served naturally.
Flambeau grew through acquisitions and product line expansion to become one of the most recognized brands in the tackle storage and hunting decoy categories. The company moved its headquarters to Middlefield, Ohio while maintaining manufacturing in the United States — a commitment to domestic production that has become a selling point in an era when most sporting goods manufacturing has moved overseas. Today, Flambeau's Made in USA designation is prominently featured on their products as a point of differentiation.
Made in Middlefield, Ohio
Flambeau manufactures its tackle boxes, bait storage products, and hunting equipment at its Middlefield, Ohio facilities. The company's Tuff Tainer line of tackle boxes uses proprietary Zerust anti-corrosion technology embedded in the plastic itself — not applied as a surface coating — to protect metal tackle components from rust and oxidation.
The injection molding process that Flambeau uses to produce its tackle boxes and decoys has been refined over more than 75 years of domestic manufacturing. The result is product consistency and material quality that allows Flambeau to warrant its products against the rough handling that fishing and hunting equipment endures. For American outdoors enthusiasts who want their gear manufactured by American workers in American facilities, Flambeau has been delivering since the postwar years.
