About Gill Athletics
Gill Athletics has manufactured track and field equipment in Champaign, Illinois since 1918, producing shot puts, discus, javelins, and field event implements used in American high school, collegiate, and Olympic competition.
Heritage and History
Gill Athletics has been manufacturing track and field equipment in Champaign, Illinois since 1918, making it one of the oldest athletic equipment manufacturers in the United States. The company's proximity to the University of Illinois — one of America's major track and field programs — provided both market access and technical feedback that informed product development over decades.
Gill equipment has been used in American Olympic Trials and NCAA championships throughout the twentieth century. The company's implements are used by the athletes who throw, jump, and vault at the highest levels of American track and field, and the specifications that the company has developed for competition equipment have become industry standards.
Made in Champaign, Illinois
Gill Athletics manufactures all track and field implements in Champaign, Illinois, where the precision machining required for competition-grade implements can be performed to the tight tolerances that governing bodies require. A discus that is slightly off-center will not fly true; a shot put that is not perfectly spherical will not roll cleanly; a javelin that is not precisely balanced will not fly straight.
For athletic directors, coaches, and programs that compete at the high school and collegiate levels, Gill Athletics provides American-manufactured implements with World Athletics, USATF, and NFHS certifications. The Champaign manufacturing heritage and the company's direct engagement with American track and field at every level ensures that the equipment meets the standards that American athletes need to train and compete effectively.
