About Highwood USA
Highwood USA manufactures outdoor furniture from high-density polyethylene lumber in Hometown, Pennsylvania, producing Adirondack chairs, benches, swings, and tables that require no maintenance and carry a 12-year residential warranty.
Recycled Plastic Lumber Furniture
Highwood USA was founded to manufacture outdoor furniture from recycled high-density polyethylene, the plastic used in milk jugs and detergent bottles, processed into a lumber-like material that can be cut, drilled, and shaped like wood. The HDPE lumber does not rot, splinter, or absorb moisture, and the color is carried throughout the material rather than applied as a surface coating. This means Highwood furniture does not fade, peel, or require painting — the maintenance commitment is essentially zero.
The Hometown, Pennsylvania manufacturing operation produces Adirondack chairs, porch swings, garden benches, dining sets, and rocking chairs in a range of colors. The dimensions and proportions follow traditional outdoor furniture design, and the material weight is comparable to dense hardwood — the chairs are stable in wind and do not blow around in storms.
The 12-Year Warranty
Highwood backs its furniture with a 12-year residential warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, which is substantially longer than most outdoor furniture warranties. The warranty is backed by the material properties of HDPE lumber: the same material used in commercial dock construction and marine applications, where UV exposure, moisture, and temperature cycling would destroy wood or steel alternatives.
For buyers comparing Highwood to painted wood Adirondack chairs: wood chairs are available at lower initial cost but require stripping, sanding, and repainting every few years to prevent deterioration. Over a 12-year period, the maintenance labor and materials for a painted wood chair exceed the price premium of the Highwood alternative for most buyers. The Pennsylvania manufacturing adds domestic supply chain confidence to what is already a practically compelling outdoor furniture option.
