Naturepedic was founded in 2003 in Chesterland, Ohio by Barry Cik, an environmental engineer who designed a baby mattress containing none of the synthetic chemicals he'd spent his career managing. The company's first crib mattress used certified organic cotton batting, a food-grade polyethylene waterproof cover, and met fire safety requirements through the density and construction of the materials rather than chemical treatment.
Naturepedic has since expanded to adult mattresses, kids' mattresses, and bedding — all built around organic materials, no synthetic chemicals, and American manufacturing.
