About Origin USA

Origin USA is a workwear, martial-arts apparel, and boot brand founded in 2011 by Pete Roberts that now operates four manufacturing facilities across North Carolina and Maine, employing more than 400 people.

Heritage & History

Pete Roberts founded Origin in 2011 as a direct response to the decline of American manufacturing, describing it as leaving communities gutted and the country's industrial knowledge base depleted. He began by clearing forest land in the foothills of western Maine and building a 7,000-square-foot timber-frame manufacturing facility, restoring a rescued historic loom to help restart domestic textile production.

Over the following twelve years the company grew from that single Maine facility into 230,000 square feet of manufacturing space across four facilities in two states, employing more than 400 people making apparel, gear, and boots.

Made in Asheboro, North Carolina and Farmington, Maine

Origin's apparel plant in Asheboro, North Carolina is a 170,000-square-foot facility with 267 employees, many with 30-plus years of experience in garment manufacturing. Its boot factory in Farmington, Maine is a 22,000-square-foot facility where 34 craftsmen design, cut, and sew about 100 pairs of boots a day.

Materials include American cow hide and American Lakota bison hide for boots and accessories, and fabric woven on looms salvaged from defunct American textile mills — tying Origin's current multi-state manufacturing footprint back to its founder's original effort to revive domestic production.
