Watershed says it "was founded in 1995 with a singular mission: build waterproof bags in the USA that we, as adventurers, could trust." The company is based in Asheville, North Carolina, where its workshop sits, and its Made in USA page covers the whole bag line. A 2020 trade-press piece on the company's 25th year described it as "Asheville, NC-based Watershed Drybags" and said it designs and manufactures USA-made bags. Some older records place the company in Raleigh. That is wrong.
How the ZipDry seal works
The bags close with a ZipDry seal, which the company compares to a freezer food storage bag "except with a lot more grip and power." Watershed says the closures "lock shut to form an airtight and watertight seal that can endure up to 300 feet of underwater pressure."
The line includes duffels such as the Colorado, Yukon and Mississippi, plus the Aleutian deck bag. Commercial raft guides, kayakers and boaters use them, and the company runs a separate military line.
