Heritage & History
Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Company began manufacturing vacuum cleaners and blowers in the United States decades ago, establishing a reputation among professional detailers, IT technicians, and serious hobbyists for tools that simply outperform their overseas-made counterparts. While the consumer vacuum market has been largely captured by imported products, MetroVac retained domestic manufacturing as a point of differentiation and quality.
The DataVac line became MetroVac's breakthrough product in the computer age: a powerful electric blower designed to replace disposable canned air. The DataVac generates continuous airflow through a 500W motor housed in an all-steel body — compared to the brief, moisture-laden bursts of canned aerosol. It became the preferred tool of IT departments, repair shops, and home users who go through significant volumes of canned air.
Made in the USA
MetroVac's products are manufactured in the United States with all-steel construction that distinguishes them from plastic-bodied alternatives. The Master Blaster car dryer series delivers 4.0 HP of airflow sufficient to dry a vehicle without touching the paint surface — eliminating the swirl marks introduced by chamois towels. The Sidekick series offers a compact, portable alternative for motorcycles and smaller vehicles.
The DataVac Computer Vacuum and DataVac Electric Duster serve the electronics cleaning market with the same philosophy: powerful, continuous American-made tools that replace consumable canned air. MetroVac's commitment to steel construction means these blowers typically last 10-20 years with normal use — a total cost advantage over repeatedly replacing cheaper plastic alternatives or continually purchasing canned air.
