Heritage & History
Wind River traces its roots to the early 1980s, when artisan Mike Throne began hand-crafting wind chimes meant to be as beautiful to see as to hear. The business became known as QMT Windchimes and set up its operations in Virginia, where the Corinthian Bells site says it has handcrafted chimes since 1986.
In 2006 Jamie and Patty Baisden acquired QMT Windchimes from its founder, and in 2020 the company rebranded as Wind River to reflect its Virginia home. Corinthian Bells, with thick-walled, powder-coated tubes built for resonance and durability, became the company's best-known collection.
