Where is GORUCK made?
Some of it: GORUCK's GR1 rucksacks and most of its Ruck Plates are made in the USA, and its one-off "Built by Scars" bags are built by hand at GORUCK headquarters in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. GORUCK's GR1 page says all GR1 colors are made in the USA, and its Ruck Plates page reads "Made in the USA (except 10lbs)." GORUCK does not name the city where GR1s and plates are made.
Much of the catalog is not US-made. GORUCK labels its Mackall boots "Built in Vietnam", and the Rucker, Bullet Ruck and Training Sternum Strap are not in its USA-built collection and carry no origin statement. About GORUCK
GORUCK was founded in 2008 by former Green Beret Jason McCarthy to build rucksacks engineered to Special Forces standards, with USA-built bags and lifetime repairs handled at the company's Jacksonville Beach, Florida headquarters.
Heritage & History
Jason McCarthy was still serving as a Green Beret when he and his wife Emily sketched out the idea for GORUCK in 2008. The concept: build a rucksack that could survive Baghdad and look at home in New York City. McCarthy spent two and a half years developing the GR1, using active Green Berets as the judge and jury on quality. The GR1 launched in 2010, and that same year GORUCK hosted its first endurance challenge event — a team event patterned after Special Forces selection.
GORUCK grew from $52,000 in revenue in 2010 to $4.1 million by 2012. The company's early manufacturing was in Bozeman, Montana, where a single GR1 required 3.5 hours of hand sewing. In 2019, standard production moved to Vietnam, while USA-built production was preserved for limited edition GR1s and custom workshop builds at Jacksonville Beach.

The same sewing machines used for production also support direct customer repairs, meaning the people who fix a rucksack are the same people who understand how it was built.
